Hi...I'm Miss Liberty. Welcome to my studio.
I am the musician behind Liberty Music: I teach privately out of my home studio in Whitby, Ontario, and I run all of our programs and events. As a pianist, I live for the love and enjoyment of music! My studio is a place where music lovers of all ages are invited to build foundational skills on their instrument, with the goal of learning to express themselves creatively throughout their life, both privately and in their community. My areas of specialty include piano performance and pedagogy, piano-vocal skills, music and movement with young children, music history and theory. I am a graduate of the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto, with a focus in piano and music education, as well as a graduate of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). I am also a Certified Teacher through the Royal Conservatory of Music, with a specialty in Elementary and Intermediate Piano. I am always updating my qualifications and continuing my education through professional development classes, workshops, conferences, and continued private study. I have helped musicians of all ages discover and explore their innate musicality and unique artistic expression for over a decade. I am a proud host studio to the Music for Young Children Program...it is a great way to get your youngest beginner started! It ensures a positive experience, a sound knowledge of music through singing and the piano, and new musical friends. All ages can enjoy playing the piano and singing through private study, and my studio workshop classes and recitals offer excellent performance opportunities. Engaging with our community is important at our studio, and students are encouraged to participate in school talent shows, church and community performances, regional festivals, and more. As their experience grows, students will also be invited to participate in community events through performance engagements at local markets, museums, and events. Students are invited to collaborate with other budding musicians through duets, piano and vocal ensembles, and our annual Studio Carolling Choir. My philosophy is that exploring your connection to music should be an enjoyable experience, and I strive to open the door to a lifetime of musical appreciation for each of my students. We work toward personal excellence through our study of technique, and work at our own pace to find our personal best. Every lesson is engaging and personal, and the safe studio environment is the ideal place for creativity to flourish. I can't wait to meet you!
